This privacy notice explains how BE processes the personal data we collect from you or that you provide to us when you visit our website (www.beyondeducation.tech) (our “Website”), that we collect through the BE activities via our platform (the “Platform”) or that you otherwise provide to us.

Who are we? 

When we refer to “BE”, “we”, “our” or “us” in this notice we mean Beyond Education (a French company, société par actions simplifiée, registered at 3 Boulevard de Sébastopol, 75001, Paris, registered in the Paris Trade and Company Registry under number 894 900 091). BE is the data controller of the use of data described in this notice. 

When we provide our Platform to Educational Institutions, BE is acting as a processor on behalf of the Educational Institutions who are the controller of their students’ personal data. 

Your personal data are protected by Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (the “GDPR“) and local laws on data protection. 

What types of data are collected and for what purposes?  

(i) When you contact us on our website or otherwise, we may process your contact details and the content of your query based on our legitimate interests (article 6-1f) GDPR) 

(ii) Manage your applications to our job offers (CVs, candidate information) based on pre-contractual measures and on the establishment of a contractual relationship between BE and job or internship applicants (article 6-1 b) GDPR).

(iii) When you use our website and register for email newsletters or email subscription services, cookies may be used to collect analytics through Google Analytics, with the purpose of understanding how you use the site and ways that we can improve your experience. 

(iv) When you register and use the Platform the following personal data will be collected:

  • Identification data (such as name, surname, age, name of your educational institution) ;
  • Your contact details (email address);
  • Socio-demographic data ;
  • Information on elements related to your personality (character, skills, etc.).

This data is collected when you complete the activities in the platform. 

These data are an integral part of the educational program implemented by your Educational Institution. If you do not provide such data your Educational Institution may not give you access to the BE activities.

For this processing, BE is acting as a data processor on behalf of your Educational Institution who is the controller of your personal data. BE will only process your data through the Platform to your Educational Institution and for hosting and maintenance purposes. If BE has obtained authorization from your Educational Institute, we may process anonymized data for research purposes (see below (iv)) 

(iv) Use of data for research purposes 

Beyond Education processes your anonymized data for research and pedagogical purposes. We use data for research initiatives, to improve teaching, learning, and the quality of the assessments. The personal data used for research is not used in an identifiable manner. Beyond Education anonymizes or pseudonymizes its research data. The research results do not contain any identifiable data, and research data are not used to target or profile individuals. This processing is based on the legitimate interests of Beyond Education to carry out scientific research and improve its educational material. 

Who will have access to your data?

We may disclose your data to the following recipients:

  • our service providers;
  • our professional advisers;
  • public authorities or judicial authorities (where disclosure is required by law or is necessary so that we can enforce our legal rights, or so that third parties can enforce their legal rights, or so that public authorities can exercise their functions in the public interest); or
  • commercial partners (where disclosure is necessary in connection with the sale of a business or its assets).

How long do we keep your personal data?

Your data will be retained for a period that will not exceed what is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. 

We will notably keep your data for the following periods: 

  • For the duration necessary to manage your requests and queries;
  • For a period of two (2) years from your contact with us for the data related to your application; 
  • For a period of a maximum of three (3) years if you participate in any BE activity that was agreed upon with your Educational Institution.

If your data are no longer required for the purposes set out in this privacy policy, these will be anonymized or erased on a regular basis unless further retention is necessary (i) to ensure compliance with obligations of retention under commercial law, tax law or accounting regulations, (ii) for the preservation of evidence during the period set by the applicable statute of limitations, (iii) for the exercise of our rights in case of legal proceedings during the period of the proceedings or investigation.

What are your rights and who you may contact?

You are entitled to certain rights under data protection laws:  

  • your right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data by BE at any time;
  • right to access – you can ask for information about personal data we hold and a copy of them;
  • right to rectification – you can ask us to rectify inaccurate personal data and to complete incomplete personal data;
  • right to erasure – you can ask us to erase your personal data;
  • the right to restrict processing – you can ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data;
  • the right to object to processing – you can object to the processing of your personal data;
  • the right to data portability – you can ask that we transfer your personal data to another organisation or to you;
  • the right to give instructions regarding the retention, erasure, and communication of your data after your death.
